I have finally got round to writing my monthly resolutions for 2019! I've started January with Whole30 which is a great way to kick start the year.
Whole30 is all about eating foods that are natural, non-refined, and good for your body. It cuts out sugar, dairy, gluten, grains, additives, legumes, alcohol and carbohydrates for 30 days. During these 30 days you can definitely notice differences- in energy levels and general well-being. I love doing it in January to help reset the body for the year ahead. I've tried to be realistic with my goals this year as it's going to be a busy year for me what with planning my wedding! I've focused on goals that will keep me interested, and active. A new month, a new monthly challenge. Can’t believe we are on 11/12 already!! Already planning my 2019 resolutions...
This one comes at a great time, just before the craziness of Christmas begins. Looking forward to feeling the benefits of cutting sugar out for a month. More energy, better sleep, and hopefully less pesky cravings by the end of the month. My month of social media free has come to an end and I feel like it has trained me to spend time on social media much less than I did before!
October comes with a new challenge and this one is the pull up challenge! By the end of this month I am hoping to be able to do a pull up. I'm not sure if I will be able to achieve this one- but I will definitely try my hardest! We are well into September and my month of social media free is proving challenging! I didn't realise how hard it would be. I have learnt that I probably spend too much time on social media- and especially before bed, so this time is being used much more constructively and I'm loving the amount of reading I've been doing before bed.
The retreat in France was great- and I've never treated a group of such relaxed people before. My job was easy! The clients enjoyed early morning and evening sessions of meditation and yoga, delicious and nutritious food, walks after breakfast, relaxing by the pool, and of course some treatments. I offered reflexology and natural face-lift massage and I think the guests left the retreat happy and wanting to come back next year. My ted talks challenge for August went well, and I learnt a lot! Here is a list of some of my favourite talks: Shonda Rhimes- My year of saying yes to everything Nic Marks- The happy planet index Jamie Oliver- Teach every child about food Ken Robinson- Do schools kill creativity? Christoph Niemann- You are fluent in this language (and don't even know it) Tshering Tobgay- This country isn't just carbon neutral, it's carbon negative Laurie Santos- A monkey economy as irrational as ours Giulia Enders- The surprisingly charming science of your gut Wendy Suzuki- The brain-changing benefits of exercise Nora Atkinson- Why art thrives at Burning Man I hope you are enjoying your September so far. The temperatures are getting cooler so now is the perfect time to try some hot stone reflexology if you haven't already! Georgie x July is here, and with it comes a new resolution! This month is my Mindfulness month, and I am hoping to do a daily meditation. I have always struggled when it comes to meditation, not really knowing what to do/ how to do it, and whenever I do start a meditation course I can never keep it up for more than a week. So I think this is going to be a real challenge, but let's hope I can do it!
June- Be a morning person.
I think I chose the right month for this what with the light mornings, and sunny days. I find I am most proactive in the morning, but sometimes I struggle to get out of bed as soon as my alarm goes off. So this month I will do my best to set my alarm earlier than normal and jump out of bed to get things done! Train for the Triathlon!...this has got to be the one I am most fearful of!
I have watched my boyfriend complete 3 triathlons now, and it's the one event I have always watched and not had the urge to partake in. The London marathon is one that has stirred that urge, (so that's maybe one for next year!) but never a triathlon. Never!...until I signed up for one in February. So the Blenheim triathlon is in 1 month now, it's really crept up on me. I've started swimming once a week, which is the part I am most worried about. Now I'm going to start practicing the transitions, keep my fitness up, and train/eat well. I'll let you know how it goes after 2nd June! Georgie x I hope you had a lovely Easter! I had a very relaxing break in Devon, which included loads of long walks around the coast, long pub lunches, getting stuck in the snow in a very impractical car, and even a (very quick!) swim in the sea. I love my job to bits, so I am very lucky, but everyone needs a break at times! It's a good way to reset, and I always feel so invigorated returning to my clients after a break. April's monthly challenge is to do daily Nike workouts. The Nike workout app is great as it has workouts ranging from 5 minutes to 45 minutes and they can be done anywhere at anytime that suits you. I've been combining it with my usual running, pilates and yoga sessions. I'm 5 days in and hoping I'll be able to keep up this challenge. Glimpses of Spring are starting to show now. The treatment room was bathed in sunshine last week, making it an even nicer place to work in! Do get in touch if you'd like to book in a treatment. G x |
