It's that time in the year again, where everyone is talking about "Detoxing", so I thought I'd join in and give my input!
Firstly what are the reasons we detox? + To feel better: detoxing puts the body back in to Homeostasis (a balance of all our bodily systems) + To cleanse the body of toxins: toxins can build up in the body and detoxing helps to reduce these toxins. + To increase energy: detoxing can increase energy levels and stop you feeling so sluggish. These are a few amongst many of the benefits of detoxing. So how can Reflexology help? Reflexology has been proven to be very good at getting rid of built up toxins in the body. It does this by increasing circulatory and lymphatic movement on a very physical level. In reflexology we look for "Crystals" in parts of the feet, which are a build up of toxins. We then massage these back into the bloodstream to then be flushed through the body through the excretory system. To aid the excretory system in getting rid of these waste toxins, you must drink plenty of water! Reflexology also works to balance the endocrine system, and especially the adrenal gland. Over the festive period the adrenal gland produces lots of hormones and works overtime to get us through the wonderful- although slightly stressful time! Balancing the adrenal gland can help you to feel much better, and less stressed. Reflexology can also help to improve sleep- something which we all have a lack of during the festive period! It works to balance the Pineal gland which regulates and controls your sleep patterns, and in doing so helps you get a better nights rest. Reflexology can also provide that well needed relaxation, from which the body benefits hugely! When the body relaxes, all the bodily systems work much better, and our body can work to reach homeostasis. So include reflexology in your detox plan and see how much better it makes you feel! |
