At the start of this month I went on a course in Reflexology Lymph Drainage, with Sally Kay. Sally has developed a reflexology sequence that can help improve lymphoedema in breast cancer patients. She has carried out extensive research to prove that the treatment has results, and we were shown some amazing results that she has had with it, where swelling has visibly reduced, and the clients quality of life has improved.
The sequence works to move the stagnant lymph around the body. Clients that have had this treatment report a feeling of "pins and needles, pain moving, cold fizzing, tingling" during the treatment. RLD cannot claim to repair the problem if lymphoedema is severe, but it can help with coping with the problem, and can improve symptoms. It won't make it simply go away, but will help! RLD can also be used for people who suffer with migraines, arthritis, asthma, eczema, Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia, ME, sinus problems, muscular tension, premenstrual syndrome. From experiencing the treatment on the course, I have seen personally that it is a hugely beneficial treatment. I have been having problems with my sinuses since a bought of flu 2 months ago, and I felt that shift and move on. I also felt and heart my digestive system moving during the treatment, and although the treatment doesn't work directly over these areas, the lymphatic system (which it does work on) is a system which interacts with the digestive system, the cardiovascular system and the immune system, so it is a key area to work on! I will be using parts of the RLD technique in my day to day treatments, and am going to focus the specific technique on case studies and patients that have breast cancer or any of the above problems that RLD can also help with.
